MEXICO CITY — A deep rift opened Thursday between the United States and its southern neighbor as the Trump administration pressed forward with a plan for a giant border wall and insisted that Mexico would pay for it, possibly through a U.S. tax on imports.
President Enrique Peña Nieto on Thursday called off a trip to Washington after emphasizing that Mexico would not finance the wall. Hours later, Trump’s press secretary, Sean Spicer, said the border barrier would be funded by a 20 percent import tax on goods from Mexico.
Spicer did not provide details of how the policy would work. Later, he appeared to backtrack, telling reporters that the tax was “one idea” to pay for the wall and that his intent was not to “roll out” a new policy. He said it could be part of a broader import tax plan backed by some House Republicans.https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/mexican-president-cancels-visit-to-washington-as-tensions-with-trump-administration-intensify/2017/01/26/ececc3da-e3d9-11e6-a419-eefe8eff0835_story.html
This obviously puts a lot of pressure on President Peña Nieto by his citizens but I think he'll come around because he kind of has to. Mexico should pay for the wall. It's their people who are breaking the law.

HE'S FIRED! Trump administration tells Border Patrol chief to pack his bags one day after the president ordered Homeland Security to build his wall
- U.S. Border Patrol chief Mark Morgan is out, just a few months after taking over the agency as an Obama White House appointee
- He clashed with the rank-and-file officers' union, which saw him as an outsider appointed for political purposes
Good move by Trump. Morgan supported comprehensive immigration reform - which a lot of people feel is code for amnesty (me included).
I keep waiting to see where Sheriff Clarke will end up. Maybe in this spot.
